The project will be shown online on YouTube, on the Spangled Aura Website and possibly on other sites. Films in this series are also being made with children and teenagers across the globe, including Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada, South Africa, Ireland and India, and will eventually create a showcase of the world’s cultures through the eyes of today’s youth.
If you are aged 18 or under, I would like you to contribute to this project by giving me your thoughts on the following questions. If you only have answers to some of the questions, I would still be interested to hear from you.
·What things do you think make up the culture of the UK today?
·What things do you think used to be part of the UK culture but are no longer important?
·What images do you think best represent the culture of the UK and / or your own culture? (eg a building, costume or clothing, religious item, person, festival, artwork, images from the news etc)
·If you could chose one piece of music to represent UK culture, what would it be?
If you have anything to say on these matters, please send your answers and ideas to the email address below. If you have any pictures which you think are relevant, please also email them – NOTE these MUST be photographs taken by you or your family or friends, and NOT photographs you have found on the internet (using photos from the internet might be against copyright law and we are not allowed to use them).
Please write the following sentence in your email if you are submitting a photograph. ‘I declare that this photograph is my own work or that of a friend or family member. I have permission to use the photograph and I agree for Spangled Aura Productions to use the photograph in the online cultural identity project’
If you would like to be more involved in the project, I will be holding a session in Cardiff Bay early in October for people who want to come along and share their thoughts, or to bring along items to be photographed. There will also be an opportunity for those who want to, to perform a dance or a piece of music which represents UK culture (either modern or traditional). This will all be very informal so no big audiences – its mainly to record things which I can use in the project. Please let me know if you are interested.
All participants in the workshop or people who email in photographs or their ideas on the above questions will have their name on the film’s credits and be mentioned on the Spangled Aura website. If you are interested in taking part or have ideas or photos about your culture, please contact me through this site or email [email protected]
    Thank you
