I am seeking views about the actors’ union Equity, from people who work in film-making. The purpose is to get a picture of how the union is perceived among people trying work as actors but not (yet) members of Equity – along the following lines:
Do you currently belong to – or been a member of – any trade union?
Equity is the trade union of performers; have you ever tried to join ?
What would attract you to join Equity? Do you believe you qualify to be an Equity member?
What do you think Equity can do for you?
Is there any role for Equity in the low-budget film-making sector? What role does Equity have in improving pay and conditions in the film industry as a whole?
How do you suppose the industry would develop if there were no trade union to represent the interests of actors?
It’s not a formal survey, I’m simply gathering views to quote in an essay I am writing about how Equity could improve its image.
