Sensate had a fantastic 2005 and we look ahead to an even better 2006.
Our head of development, and co-director, Beth White, has completed a new script for our slate, “Alpha”, which is now being passed to potential directors and co-producers for consideration. Previously advertised as “Wild Child”, Alpha is a horror in the vein of The Wicker Man with nods to the conventions of the werewolf genre. “I spent a fair amount of time in 2005 scouting new writers for our development slate to work on the ideas generated here, in house”. says Beth. “But the idea for Alpha came to me so completely, and during Christmas, when I couldn’t really get anyone on board, that I thought I’d have first crack at it. In the end it took me only a few weeks of burning the candle at both ends to complete it.”
The rest of our development slate looks equally healthy, with B-Team scheduled for first draft delivery in March and Mira, Darwin College and Miss Brown now in treatment form. We aim to have writers attached to the latter by the middle of 2006.
On the consultancy side of Sensate, last year we worked with several independent producers on their slates and individual projects, providing feedback, editing and writing skills on a freelance basis. In 2006 we will be looking to continue these relationships but also to expand our network of clients through networking events and script readings, some of which will be invite only… so introduce yourself to us now to be put on our mailing list!
Sensate now also has online presence, http://www.sensate-media.co.uk, which was built by Ben Craig of Cinemagine and Filmmaking.net.
