I received an email from a colleague telling me that Mike Leigh has mentioned my encounter with him in his blog in the Guardian.

It was nice to know that Mike Leigh found our conversation to be interesting.

Two hours later, an email arrives from Mike Leigh saying that he passed my script to Film Four’s Tessa Ross with a nice cover letter. Needless to say, I was thrilled.

I read the new drafts of the scripts, and decided to pitch two.

I discussed them with the writers and contacted two fellow producers and a DP to get them on board.
