Britain’s man-of-the-moment in Hollywood, Colin Firth, has kicked off what he hopes will be a year to fill his awards cabinet with a star on the Walk of Fame.
Just days after picking up a prize in Palm Springs, for his latest performance as the stammering George VI in The King’s Speech, he’s been honoured with a star on Hollywood Boulevard, next to Emma Thompson’s, outside the British-style Pig-and-Whistle pub.
Accepting the honour, which he dedicated to his wife Livia, Firth said it was a corner of Hollywood that would be forever England and he could pop in for a pint after a long day staring at his star.
Firth is seen as a strong contender for the Best Actor in a Dramatic Feature Film award at this weekend’s Golden Globes – an honour he hopes to replicate next month at the BAFTAs and Oscars.
