Campo Viejo – making film and wine go hand in hand
Enjoy a complimentary glass of Campo Viejo, the UK’s favourite Rioja, for the opening night of Notes on a Scandal at participating Picturehouse cinemas across the UK on Friday 2nd February 2007. Starring award-winning actresses, Cate Blanchett and Dame Judi Dench, Notes on a Scandal is based on the best-selling novel by Zoe Heller and is set to cause a stir at the box office when it opens early next year.
Relaxing with a glass of quality wine whilst watching a good film at the cinema is the ultimate in cinema indulgence and Notes on a Scandal will not disappoint film enthusiasts. Notes of a Scandal is a tale of love, loyalty and envy as the controversial storyline follows art teacher, Sheba Hart’s (Cate Blanchett) illicit affair with one of her pupils and the impact that this has on her friendship with teacher colleague, Barbara Covett (Judi Dench).
Campo Viejo will be offering a complimentary glass of wine (for all patrons aged 18 years and over) to all cinema ticket holders for both evening performances of Notes on a Scandal on Friday 2nd February 2007. To claim your complimentary glass of Campo Viejo wine, simply present your cinema ticket at the cinema bar and enjoy a taste of Spain. Wine will be served for an hour before the start of the film so make sure you get to the cinema on time so you can relax with a glass of Campo Viejo.
Campo Viejo was recently enjoyed by talent from the film industry at The Times BFI 50th London Film Festival 2006 as it was the official wine sponsor for the festival. A recent study, commissioned by this well-loved Spanish winemaker, reveals that particular genres of film and television programmes are enjoyed best when paired with a particular style of wine. Just as a piece of succulent red meat requires a full-bodied red to enhance its meaty flavours; the mood of a movie can be enhanced if you watch it with the right bottle of wine.
The survey revealed that 88 women interviewed would prefer a glass of Rosé wine drink while watching a romantic film whereas 79 people would choose an aged red wine to accompany a drama or blockbuster – the complexity of the flavours in the wine working well with the unfolding events. A white wine is deemed more suitable for a foreign-speaking film, 61 favoured a glass of white over a red, rosé or sparkling.
Campo Viejo will be providing film and wine matching notes to help audiences make the right decision about their glass of wine when watching the film and will be inviting audiences to recommend a wine match from the Campo Viejo wine range for Notes on a Scandal after the performance.
