Jennifer Lawrence’s horror flick, House of the End of the World, and Jake Gyllenhaal-Michael Pena cop drama, End Of Watch, topped the US box office over the weekend, opening with $13 million each.

End of Watch, which follows two LA police officers as they battle a vicious Mexican drug cartel, cost only $7 million to produce, while House of the End of the World, which tells the story of a mother a daughter who move in the house of their dreams, was made for less than $10 million.

Not far behind was Clint Eastwood’s baseball drama Trouble With The Curve, which drew $12.7 million on its debut. Directed by Eastwood’s producing partner Rob Lorenz, the film follows an aging baseball scout (Eastwood) as he goes on his last trip with his daughter (Amy Adams). Trouble With the Curve is the first time we see Eastwood acting in a film he is not directing since In The Line of Fire.

Pixar animated 3D re release of Finding Nemo landed in the fourth place with a disappointing $9.4 million.

The fifth spot at the US box office was claimed by Resident Evil: Retribution, which earned $6.7 million. Paul W.S. Anderson’s action/sci-fi series fared better in the international box office, where it topped the box office with $30.5 million. Featuring Milla Jovovich in the lead role, the film’s total currently stands at $33.5 million in the US and $103.4 overseas.

Seth MacFarlane’s comedy starring Mark Wahlberg captured the second spot internationally with $9.3, reaching an overseas cume of $202.8 million.

The Bourne Legacy, starring jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz, followed with $8.8 million. The action thriller has grossed $102.6 million in the foreign market.

Controversial and buzz-generating scientology-inspired drama The Master was ranked 7th in the US box office in its second weekend, grossing only $5 million.
