Penguin is offering an exciting opportunity for budding filmmakers with the launch of a competition to produce a movie trailer for the chilling thriller, The Missing. This competition is launched on 31 January 2007 at www.themissingbook.co.uk and is open to all UK film makers. The trailer can be made using whatever devices, sound, music, graphics or effects as are available. Whether the movie is shot on location in an abandoned warehouse, or in the dark corners of a bedroom, the winning entry will scare everyone who sees it into wanting to know more. The closing date for entries is 31 March 2007. More details of the competition can be found at www.themissingbook.co.uk.
Set to be THE scariest book of 2007, The Missing (published by Penguin, 3 May 2007) is being described as a cross between Silence of the Lambs and The Bone Collector.

And when the FBI takes over the investigation, it becomes clear that a sadistic serial killer has been on the brown for decades and is poised to strike again at any moment. A killer with links to horrors that Darby has tried desperately to bury in her past…
