REBUS APPOINTMENT FOR KAHLEEN CRAWFORD CASTING
Kahleen Crawford, one of the film & TV industry’s most exciting emerging young casting directors, has been hired to cast all four episodes of the new series of Rebus, one of ITV’s most popular drama serials.
Number 24 in the ratings of Billboard’s top TV shows of 2006, Rebus is the highest profile TV show to be cast by Kahleen to date. However, despite the fact that she only established her freelance agency Kahleen Crawford Casting in 2006, she also cast BBC TV series Feel the Force in the same year and has already made a successful mark in the world of independent film.
Based at Glasgow’s new Film City, Kahleen recently completed the casting of Ken Loach’s new feature film These Times, which is the fourth project she has worked on with the acclaimed director, including the 2006 Palme D’Or winner, The Wind That Shakes The Barley.
In 2006, Kahleen also cast the 2006 Palme D’Or nominated film Red Road from Oscar winning director Andrea Arnold. Red Road is the first in the Advance Party Trilogy based on characters by Anders Thomas Jensen and Lone Scherfig.
More imminently, the highly anticipated Straightheads, a film cast by Kahleen in partnership with Des Hamilton starring Gillian Anderson and Danny Dyer and directed by esteemed documentary maker Dan Reid will be released across 200 screens on April 20th (tbc).
Says Kahleen Crawford: “Working on a fantastic high profile show like Rebus is an excellent challenge for me. What a great start to 2007.”
Says Rebus Producer Willy Wands: “We are delighted to be working with Kahleen Crawford on the next series of Rebus as she brings great enthusiasm and vitality to the job. It is also wonderful to work with local technicians as it stimulates and sustains productivity in Scotland.”
The new series of Rebus will be transmitted on ITV1 later this year.
