The Amazing Spider-Man tightens its web worldwide, claiming the top spot in the US and international box offices with $65 million and $129.1 million respectively over the weekend. The fourth installment of the blockbuster series has earned a total of $341.2 million on its first week, easily beating Batman Begins, which earned only $79.5 in its first six days.

Starring British actor Andrew Garfield as the spider-man and Emma Stone as his love interest Gwen Stacy, the 3D reboot of the tentpole franchise comes fives years after Spider-Man 3 with  Tobey Maguire in the lead.

Seth MacFarlanes Fantastical comedy, Ted, dropped to the second spot, grossing a strong $32.6 million. The Universal pic opened in some territories overseas and ranked 4th, taking $15 million over the weekend.

Pixars animated Brave, continued to impress, claiming the third spot in the US box office with $20.2 million in its third weekend. The film has made $211 million worldwide, including $174.5 in the US. 

Oliver Stones new take on Mexican drug wars, Savages, did better than expected, grossing  $16.2 million to come in the 4th spot in the US box office. The film will be released overseas on September.

Featuring an ensemble cast, including John Travolta, Salma Hayek, Yaylor Kitch, Blake Lively, Aaron Johnson and Benicio Del Toro, the thriller follows 2 Californian Marijuana growers as they fight off a vicious Mexican drug cartel, who encroaches on their business.

Male striptease dramedy, Magic Mike, landed in the fifth spot with $15.6 million. Starring Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey, the films total cume since its release is $72.8

Foxs Ice Age, Continental Drift was pushed to the second spot in the international market by Spider-Man, but continued to wow, with an astounding $80.6 millions in the box office. Opening this week in the US and Canada, the computer animated franchise has so far earned $200 million overseas.

 

Landing in the 4th spot, Snow white and the Huntsman reaches a total overseas gross of $204.8 after adding $8.5 million over the weekend.

 

Katy Perry: Part of Me failed to impress in its first weekend, bowing with $10.3 million in the US and $2.3 million overseas. Cost $12 million to make, the 3D documentary follows the 27-year-old pop star on a tour around the world.
