The Artist follows its Golden Globe win by taking top honour at the Producers guild Association (PGA) Awards  on Saturday, beating another Oscar hopeful and a Golden Globe winner, The Descendant, paving the way to a likely success at the Oscars next month.

Represented by its producer, Thomas Langmann, who collected the award at The Beverly Hilton,  The Silent movie triumphed over other nominees, including War Horse, The Help, Bridesmaids, Hugo, The Girl with The Dragon Tatoo, MoneyBall and the Ides of March.

Steven Spielbergs The adventures of Tin Tin took the trophy for Animated film.

Golden Globe and Emmy winner, ITVs Downton Abbey TV mini-series won the trophy for the long-form Television.

Modern Family and Boardwalk Empire TV shows won the awards for the Comedy series and Drama series respectively.

Since many of its voters are members of the Academy, The PGA awards considered a reliable indicator to who is going to win the Oscar next month.
