The British sales and production company Intandem Films is launching a UK distribution company.

It’ll be headed by the former Walt Disney Managing Director Robert Mitchell, whose tenure at Disney saw the release of eight of the top fifty highest grossing films in the UK market.

Intandem Films Distribution plans to release up to five films in its first year, across a variety of genres and budget levels. It’s first release, this October, will be the political comedy Grassroots, starring Jason Biggs and written and directed by Stephen Gyllenhall.

The founder and CEO of Intandem, Gary Smith, says that having proved itself as a major force in the international sales, finance and production market, setting up its own distribution company in the UK is the natural next step.

Future releases will include a big screen version of the TV series Catweazle and 10 Things I Hate About Life, Gil Junger’s follow-up to his 1999 Shakespeare update, 10 Things I Hate About You.
