The Door In The Floor – Review

WHAT’S IT LIKE?

This film has many levels: the couple’s bereavement and marriage breakdown and the teenager learning that life’s full of failed hopes and dashed expectations.
Bridges is in top form as the eccentric creative force, the archetypal loveable rogue. Basinger’s introverted reticence successfully captures her character’s hopelessness.
But as little more than an observer of the main drama, the key character of Eddie, who represents the audience, watching the disintegration of the marriage, is less interesting.
A needless flashback further hinders a plodding, predictable film, with little more to offer than its performances.

THE DOOR IN THE FLOOR opens February 11 2005
