  1. How do I broadcast music on UK screen?

To broadcast music on UK screen you must first create a directory entry for your Band (click "Sign me Up" in the sidebar and select "Band"). Once you have done this, you can begin broadcasting your music - click "Broadcast" in the sidebar and select "Music CD". The "Music CD" option is only available to Bands.
If you are a paying member then you can upload your tracks to your page, otherwise you can link them to your page from an external server

  2. What music formats are supported by UK screen

You can broadcast your music in any or all of the following formats: Real Audio, Windows Media, MPEG3 (mp3), and QuickTime.

Our system streams all the above media files. Streaming means that users will be able to play your music instantly without having to download the entire file.

  3. What equipment do I require?

All what you need is a computer equiped with a CD and a sound card.

  4. How do I get my music in the correct format?

These days, most the media players, like Windows Media Player, RealPlayer and others, can capture your music from your CD, to any format you choose.
Once the media file is stored on your PC, you can upload it either to UKscreen, using our forms, or to anyother server, like your ISP, using FTP software.

  5. I am not a paying member. What should I do?

If you have a personal website on a different server then you can upload your music files onto that server then, using UKscreen forms, you can link them to your page. If you don't have a webpage, then check with your ISP (internet service provider) if they offer you free webspace -they usually do- and upload you files there.

  6. My music is on a different server, how can I link it to my page?

There is an option in the Broadcast form which will allow you to type a link to your music file instead of uploading it. Your file must be of the correct format and available on a web server. Depending on the type of file, the following link types are supported:

    • Real Audio - Your file must be Real Media file (.rm, .ra, .ram extension) and located on a standard Web (http://) or Real Media (rtsp://) server, e.g. if your file name is media.rm and your server name is myserver.com then your link will be either:
      • http://mysever.com/media.rm  (if myserver.com is a standard web server)
      • rtsp://myserver.com/media.rm  (if myserver.com is a Real Media server)
    • Windows Media - Your file must be a Windows Media Audio (.wma, .wmv, .asf extensions) file and located on a web (http://) or Windows Media (mms://) server.
    • MPEG 3 - your file must have a .mp3 extension and be located on a standard Web (http://) or FTP (ftp://) server.
    • QuickTime - your file must have a .mov extension and be located on a standard Web (http://) or quicktime (rtsp://) server.
You can link two files (speeds) from each format, which total 8 files per music track.

Warning: Do not link files from other websites, without the permission of their webmaster.

  7. Can I upload the same track in more than one format?

You can upload the same track in all of the above formats. After you have uploaded your track the first time (and you are still on the Broadcast screen), simply click "Edit Track" and upload again, selecting a different format. If you select a format that has already been uploaded, then the previous upload will be overwritten.

  8. What if I want to take my music off UKscreen?

This is a unique feature of UKscreen: you have complete control over your music even when it's on our server. Select 'Edit Page' from the sidebar while viewing the page of your Band. Once you have entered your username and password you will have the option to 'Edit Tracks' where you can then delete any track that you have uploaded.
