China/Japan and Korea (adapting T.V shows/documentaries). Advice please

I am an aspiring Television producer and documentary maker.
I hope to promote Japan, China and Korea in a positive light through television.
I need advice, help, and possibly some basic mentoring.
I hope to:
1) Create documentaries about University life in China.
2) Adapt very popular Chinese, Japanese and Korean television entertainment shows for a western audience (basically editing and subtitling existing shows).
I plan to work with filmmakers in China to help create documentaries, then try to sell them for English T.V. I would like to make some contacts, find-out about technical requirements/who to contact about selling the documentaries etc.
Currently living in China (previously having lived in Japan and Korea for 3 years).
