Gilberts Web is a contemporary musical for the 21st century, influenced by classic shows such as ‘Rocky Horror’ and ‘Little shop of Horrors’, Gilberts Web is aimed to be a fun, frantic frollic with upbeat, uplifting songs in a modern quirky romantic comedy setting. Together with co-writer and exceptional lyricist and musician Andy Dovey, Gilberts Web is a romantically comic caper which adults everywhere will enjoy and identify with.
Gilberts Web is a contemporary rock and roll musical set in the present day following an individual called Gilbert, a young man on the fringe of society, a thirty something who although still living with his mum, is desperate to find love any way he can. The musical revolves around a disfunctional relationship Gilbert pursues with a young lady he meets online through a dating agency. Due to both their insecurities and their Walter Mitty natures, they begin to spin a web of white lies and exaggerations about themselves so complex and comical that when it comes time to meet each other, they do almost anything to live up to each others expectations!
If you are interested in being part of ‘Gilberts Web’ and have strong vocals (first and foremost), and dynamic acting abilities, we would like to hear from you. You must be within easy commuting distance of the Exeter area, and be committed and motivated.
There will be no payment for services but we will be willing to discuss shares in future rewards depending on input. Firstly aiming at local theatre, we are planning to take this to its logical conclusion and push for film.
