We do not use release forms and if asked, as in this case, we keep our clients’ identities confidential. If this is a problem for you, or anyone else thinking of applying, we advise you not to send your script, but we would be happy to read it.

This script call is now closed.
Thankyou to everyone who sent in scripts… we have been inundated, with over 300 from the UK, USA and even Mumbai.
We are working our way through them so please be patient if you have sent something in. Unfortunatly the volume means that we cannot supply feedback except in exceptional circumstances.

in reply to: Production Companies? #263054

Many indies with one or two productions under their belt or a decent series of names attached to a project can get by off development funding. Of course, producer’s fees are tied into the script actually going into production, often with points (percentage) of the gross returns… so they won’t make big dollar unless they make something (but equally the funds will also take gross points exceeding the original lay out if it is a success, potentially diminishing their wages). But many companies run their overheards (office expenses, staff) as a negotiated part of any development funding they get from regional bodies or the UKFilm Council. Tied into this funding is often a certain number of drafts on a particular script but as long as they can afford to renew the option when it expires (which in some cases can cost as little as £1 if the writer is a newbie) they can just survive on development money. This is of course what most people would call Development Hell, not actually making anything, but is a surprisingly large part of the industry.

Awesome… love the style and the effects… Why not put it up on UKScreen so more people can comment on it?
    Definitely one to watch

Yes, this will be paid freelance work depending on contracts and commissions.
Please read the latest post in the General Forum for an idea of payments.
