Eastwoods J. Edgar to open AFI Festival

Eastwood’s eagerly awaited biopic J.Edgar, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is to open to the 25th AFI festival, which kick off in Hollywood on Nov.3 and run through Nov. 10.
Shot from a script penned by Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black, J. Edgar tells the story of the feared and controversial FBI director, who is played by DiCaprio. Armie Hammer, Judie Dench and Naomi Watts are also among the cast.
Although it is yet to be seen, the film has already been deemed a best picture contender by a number of Oscar prognosticators, who say that it’s about time DiCaprio, who has been so far overlooked by the Academy, is awarded a deserved Oscar.
Many of the potential Oscar contenders have already been premiered in major film festivals such as Cannes and Venice, and more will be screened in the next couple of weeks in Toronto International Film Festival.
