Martin and Baldwin to host Oscars

The organisers of the Oscars have hired Steve Martin and Alex Baldwin to co-host the 82nd Academy Awards, in March next year.
The comic actor and writer Steve Martin has previously hosted the ceremony in 2001 and 2003 but it will be actor Alec Baldwin’s first time helming the event.
The producers of the show are hoping to revive the flagging ratings, although this year’s musical extravaganza, hosted by the actor Hugh Jackman, did see a boost on previous years.
Baldwin – best known to many for his role in the sitcom 30 Rock – was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2003 for playing the casino boss in The Cooler. He described the invite to host the Oscars as the “opportunity of a lifetime.”
Martin said he was happy to co-host with his “enemy.”
