Odeon reaches deal with Disney over Alice

Odeon cinemas will be screening Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland after all, thanks to a deal that’s been struck between Britain’s biggest cinema chain and the distributor, Disney.
Odeon – along with the other major chains, Cineworld and Vue – had objected to Disney’s decision to release the film on DVD just twelve weeks after the theatrical released date, rather than the usual seventeen weeks.
All three of the big chains have now reached an agreement with Disney to allow the film’s exhibition to go ahead without disruption.
In a statement, Odeon said it was “pleased to announce that, following detailed negotiations with the Walt Disney Company Ltd, an enduring agreement has been reached encompassing all the different aspects of both companies’ commercial relationship.”
The announcement came on the day of the Royal Premiere of the film – at the Odeon Leicester Square.
