"The Wrestler wins the Independent Spirit Awards.

Miki Rourke, the star of the “The Wrestler”, has also pinned the competition in the lead male category. He was given a standing ovation this afternoon from the A-list stars, who came to the ceremony in Santa Monica beach.
Other big names collected awards are Penelope Cruz for best supporting actress in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” and James Franco for best supporting actor in “Milk”.
The Visitor helmer, Tom McCarthy, was named best director, and the Oscar-winning screenwriter, Charlie Kaufman, took the best first feature award for his directorial debut “Synecdoche, New York”.
Some of these winners will be competing tomorrow for the Academy awards against the heavy weight studio movies.
