Skyfall breaks Bond box office record in UK

The Aston Martin returns in box office success, Skyfall

The latest James Bond film Skyfall has stormed to the top of the UK box office chart, taking more than £20 million from 587 screens across the UK and Ireland.

Responding to the biggest opening weekend for a Bond film in its home territory, the producers, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, said they were absolutely overwhelmed by the reaction to Skyfall.

The producers said they were particularly thrilled to have had such a successful opening in the fiftieth anniversary year of the Bond film franchise.

Daniel Craig’s third outing as Bond, Skyfall, featuring supporting performances from Dame Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem, has restored faith in the franchise after the disappointing critical and public reaction to his second film, Quantum of Solace.
