THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH NOTHING TO DO

The royal queue: The Duchess of Cambridge's iconic wedding dress is bound to be a draw for the crowds who gather outside Buckingham Palace

Thousands of tourists queued around Buckingham Palace waiting for staff to open its gates to the public so they can see Kate Middleton’s bridal gown which has gone on display.

The undoubted star of this year’s summer exhibition is the stunning £250,000 Alexander McQueen dress, designed by Sarah Burton.

The beauty is in the detail: Kate's veil is made of soft ivory silk tulle and stitched with flowers

Its encore at Buckingham Palace is fast becoming the hottest ticket in town.
Everything from the Duchess’s veil to her shoes and even the royal wedding cake is on display. Record demand means advance ticket sales are more than double on last year’s summer opening of the Palace, with 600,000 people paying £17.50 per ticket to troop through the doors over the next ten weeks.
That would comfortably beat the palace’s previous highest attendance of 420,000 in 1994.
