Hi Clair,
I use a combination of “Ulead VideoStudio v10” and “Pinnacle Studio v9.4.3”. Both are quite simple to use but functionality of the ULead product is a little light, hence I do the basic nailing together with Ulead and the bells and whistles with Pinnacle.

Forbes KBMemberHi Justine,
Before you can get any professional work as a stunt artist or stunt double you must, repeat must, be a member of the Equity Stunt Register and to get accepted onto the register you must have mastered 6 of the required disciplines to a satisfactory level of competence.
This not a closed shop union thing…it’s about making sure the people employed by the TV and Film Industry to do stunts, which to an insurance company perception is deemed an increased risk of being sued if someone gets hurt, the insurance companies demand that only suitably vetted individuals carry out these stunts. No insurance = no film so this requirement is very strictly adhered to by professional film makers.
For more information you can contact Equity or check out the following website I found recently that explains the requirements in an easy to understand way.

Good luck,

Forbes KBMemberHi Sarah,
This is an excellent example of how to approach this community looking for funding without getting peoples back up.
If I had a spare 2,000 kicking around that I didn’t need to keep a roof over my head over the next few (lean) months I would certainly be putting my hand in my pocket to help out. Unfortunately I don’t and my contacts wouldn’t stump up within the required timescales.
Good luck with this Sarah,

Do the maths. Mr. John is promising “10 seconds of fame” for just 25UKP. He has stated in his that if he doesn’t raise 500,000 by the end of January the project is cancelled and the money will be refunded.
There are only 1999 units available to purchase on eBay. 1,999 x 25 = 49,975. So even if he sells all his units he is still UKP 450,250 short. To make 500K using this scheme he would have to sell 20,000 units and I may be naive but I don’t think there are 20,000 people on the planet that are that desperate for “fame” that they would buy into this.
Lets play the devils advocate and consider what he is actually offering. 1999 names scrolling in the credits AND 10 seconds of screen time each. We’ve all watched credits scrolling past so fast noone can actually read them so that is obviously what is intended with the scrolling name offer. So how is the picture on the screen bit going to work. It certainly isn’t going to be individually as this would take nearly 6 hours to get through all 1999 units for the requisite 10 seconds. Say he has allocated just 1 minute of screen time to this offer with 6 pages of photos containing 333(.166r) on each page.
Without getting too technical lets take it down to something we all can get our heads round. The resolution of the monitor you are reading thing message on is probably set to 1024×768 (I’m using a 19″ monitor and this is more than small enough to cause me eyes strain) thats 786432 total pixels available. 333 pictures could be formatted to 10×33 so your picture, for the purposes of this excercise will be 31×76. Which on your screen be approx 7.5mm x 1cm. The size of the image will (roughly) double with every additional minute of screen time allocated to this scheme by reducing the number of pictures on each page.
Imagine what happens to these figures when instead of 1999 units he does actually sell the required 20,000.
Sing after me…to the tune of the well known footbal chant “here we go”
§ It’s a con…Its a con…It’s a con…etc.§
Some guy trying to make a quick 50 grand to pay for his kids Christmas presents or his mortage. It’s just depressing that once again, he has chosen to target the acting community…someone must have told him we are all spoilt little rich kids, with 5 brain cells between us with nothing else to do but buy our way to fame…we don’t need the fortune bit as we’ll get daddy’s when he croaks.
Rant over…I hope I bump into Mr. John in the pub one day

It is also interesting to note that of the 999 units that are on sale on his eBay auction only one has been purchased so far by some guy with the eBay username “matthewj6658″…is this too much of a coincidence?
The words POND SCUM comes to mind…and he set up the eBay auction on Christmas Day too.Forbes KBMemberAwesome trailer Ken…My only complaint is their isn’t enough of that b’stard McDonald in it ;-))
Looking forward to the premier.

(aka McDonald)Forbes KBMemberWhere are you at university…your profile says Wales, but there are precious few agencies in Wales dealing with Extras.
Forbes KBMemberHaving a signature page separate to the main body of a contract isn’t unusual. If you sign it, make sure you and the signatory from Diamond initials each and every page of the main contract in addition to the full signature on the (usually) the last page. Also ensure you get a copy to take away with you that includes all pages (with initials on each page) so nothing mysteriously changes after you sign it.
If you are with Equity, talk to them first if there is anything in the “legaleze” you don’t understand. If you are with Equity, find a friendly solicitor who will take a once over on it and advise you the true legal meaning of certain clauses.
Only if you are 100 happy with it should you sign it. It will come back to bite you later if you don’t fully understand something that you have legally agreed to so MAKE SURE YOU READ IT before you sign it.

ForbesKBForbes KBMemberIt’s funny how when PD call people to try and extract payment they always have an casting to dangle infront of you like the proverbial carrot on a stick.
They called me with a “commercial on a stick”…and I have no regrets keeping my hard earned 65 quid in my pocket, going down the pub and giving it to the landlord over a short period of time in exchange for a some very satisfying pints of brown stuff.
Money well spent in my opinion as the brown stuff did exactly as it says on the box, so to speak.

What sort of “distinctive look” do you have in mind for the 40-50 year old role? I have a distrinctive look but it isn’t “school janitor from Scooby Doo”…
More info please.

ForbesKBForbes KBMemberIt should also be noted that the company “Manic Films & TV Productions” mentioned in the original posting is in no way related to Manic Films Ltd. (http://www.manicfilms.com).
Manic Films Ltd., based at Pinewood Studios, are a 100 legitimate and reputable company run by David Broscombe. I have done work for Manic Films Ltd. in the past and have nothing but good things to say about them.
Just thought I would mention that just to keep the record straight.
