The organisers of the Cannes Film Festival have announced the members of the jury that will pick this year’s Palme d’Or winner.
There’s a strong British presence, with 2-time Cannes award winning director Andrea Arnold sitting on the jury with Scotland’s favourite cinematic export, Ewan McGregor.
American writer director Alexander Payne, who won this year’s Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for The Descendants and had About Schmidt in contention for the Palme d’Or a decade ago, will join them on the panel, that will be chaired by the Italian director Nanni Moretti.
The other jurors include the Palestinian actress Hiam Abbass, the French actress Emanuelle Devos, the German actress Diane Kruger, the Haitian director Raoul Peck and, from outside the film business, the French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier.
