I too had been asked by 2 casting agencies to be on their websites..
Both costing £117:50. It’s way too steep for me pay both these companies at once.
I did tell them that I don’t have enough funds to cover the costs.
So, I’m just gonna see how it goes as the year goes..
If I don’t get anymore from them as a result.. fine.
I’ll probably just go to another agency..Wayne JosephMemberI’m sure as hell ain’t going to buy a raffle ticket for this pappy-show!
I agree with Ana and Joe. The whole idea for Larry is get actors to buy raffle tickets from him so that the money can go towards the film. I feel as if this is a very bad idea.
If someone wants to raise funds for a movie.. I’m sure there are better ways of doing it, rather than come with an idea of doing a raffle ticket ****.
Why can’t Larry just look for film investors? I’m sure there are many companies in the UK that can give advice as well as help out filmmakers alike to set up a good business plan in order to get their movie projects off the ground.
I reckon most actors who are reading this, feel as this idea is a joke.
Actors rather get paid than part with their own money just to get a part in a film.
This is a con! No way I’m buying a raffle ticket to say I’ll get a part in a movie.
If I want to invest in someone’s movie, I know who to go to..Wayne JosephMemberI agree. If you just looking for scripts.. you should give a rough idea in terms of the budget, locations, etc.
If there’s not enough information as to what you’re looking for, in a way the writer/s will feel a bit confused.
The more info, the better.
Hope this helps..Wayne JosephMemberThat’s cool..!
I saw the trailer.. It looks interesting.
I’ll have to see what the film is like when it comes out.Wayne JosephMemberKnowing those people.. They might not want to comment.
After all I’ve been through with them.
I’m done and dusted.Wayne JosephMemberI thought Lee’s People was based in London?
Where did you get Eastbourne from?
In fact, I’ve been with Lee’s People for a few years.
They’re good! I have a few subsantial work from them.17 February 2007 at 12:00 pm in reply to: Models 1 Promotions Exposed BBC1 Inside Out – Friday #263782Wayne JosephMemberI saw the videos. I believe after people sees this..
they will think again about going to these ‘castings-in-a-hotel’ scenario.
From the looks of those programmes, this whole thing is spreading like wildfire.
The message will sink in to all of us.
Good work, Clive Hurst!Wayne JosephMemberI’ve heard many stories about Soho Artistes from other extras, when I did Eastenders. Not one word was said good about them. It was all bad!
Some of them mntioned that they wouldn’t work with them again!Wayne JosephMemberJennis! I think Joe is telling us to be careful when you these adverts.
Not every advert is the same.16 January 2007 at 12:00 pm in reply to: Looking for promoters, models, dancers, anyone with a network of friends to promote London Clubs #256038Wayne JosephMemberDon’t understand that advert..
What is this suppose to be?
Are you looking for people to promote your company or is this suppose to be
a 64,000 question?Wayne JosephMemberI agree with Helen.
I don’t usually do unpaid work these days.
Many people who want to do extra or acting work, rather get something at the end of it.
But then again.. don’t think you’ll get 120 volunteers.
That’s going to be a long hard struggle!14 January 2007 at 12:00 pm in reply to: BBC Radio 1 Joins Equity/Bectu Up-Front Fee Campaign! #256024Wayne JosephMemberI’ve heard it. Soon this whole thing is gonna spread worldwide.
It’s good to hear that the Government is now starting to take steps to crack down on these bogus agencies.Wayne JosephMemberI’m with StarNow, but I’m not a full member..
All the ads on there are mainly just stuff for TV..
Film-wise? You’ll be lucky if someone gets you a paid job..
Mostly all of them are unpaid.
I was gonna apply for film extra work a few months back for a feature that was gonna be shot in Brighton. Yeah! A friend mentioned that you have to pay your own travel expenses to be there on set.
I felt as if these producers are having a laugh or what?
You get paid and half the money has gone towards petrol?
It’s a waste of time and money..!Wayne JosephMemberSounds like this guy got his own pappy-show!
If he’s got no number or email address.. how can he run his agency if no-one wants to contact him..?Wayne JosephMemberI’ve heard of Wannabefamous.. A friend told me last year..
It’s another one of those lousy business where actors get charged to be on their ‘books’ and you get nothing out of it.
In Holly’s case.. I think that’s gone way too far..
You cancel your card, and the buggers still want to take money off you..
whether they get you work or not! But it seems not!
Nowadays, we all have to be careful of these ‘dodgy agencies!’
Some of them will do anything to get money off us..! -
